Social media not the best for way to engage teenagers!

A recent report showed that whilst right now every web seo company or internet marketer (including me) is jumping on the band wagon to stress the importance of social media and the need to use sites likes twitter, facebook, myspace etc to engage in potential customers and drive lead generation for business. I read a report on a flight to the states in a newspaper saying in actual fact you would think it was the tech savvy kids that are all over social media and the internet, whilst its the ‘silver surfers’ that are driving the biggest growth in social media and internet usage, i.e those over 50 and from 30 years old the age group seems to be embracing the internet more and more.

Kids want to be going out, going to movies exploring their first opportunity to go clubbing, drinking and all the things that they should’nt be doing said a teenager in this report!. So the take home from this is that traditional tv advertising still has a reach as they are getting seen in the cinemas and on tv when the youngsters are round friends houses enjoying life so to speak. Interesting view and one not to forget when embarking on a social media campaign.
