It is evident still that business’s are not completely embracing the major social media networking sites to really drastically change the way they can attract business online. Sure we are seeing a larger percentage of business owners starting up blogs and bringing video content into their ‘web real estate’ but still when you go to network meetings and ask around business owners are still behind in the power of really tapping into social media.
I was at the London networking event for ecadamy on recently and one of the presenters was talking about the very same thing as in how many people are actually twittering, how many people are leveraging of all the contacts they no on facebook? MySpace and linked in?
We all have hundreds of people that we can potentially network with, in fact if you think the average person is surrounded by an a community of hundreds right from primary school the potential is enormous.
You are only 2 degrees away from millions never mind the 6 degrees of separation. Think also of university as the thousands of people that are associated with an institution and you really can find new business very quickly.
So you really want to set up the 4 major traffic pulling and networking sites in my opinion that will have the most profound effect on your business they are:
1. facebook
2. my space
3. LinkedIn
4. twitter
Now it’s important to remember there is an etticate and way to go about social networking and you can’t use it as blatant pitch it’s another form of reciprocation that you need to do. You have to give value all the way that’s what the internet is all about!
In every blog post, every article every video you submit for content provide as much value as possible and not only will you enjoy doing it more, but you will also get a lot more satisfied people.
Over the next few weeks I’m going to look at how you best tackle these socail media platforms and how to leverage of it. I suggest you concentrate on one or two at the ost to start of with, I started with twitter and as you can see it’s growing at a very fast pace.

Hi,
Thank you! I would now go on this blog every day!
I think social media helps for small business.Hitting a front page of major social video, news and bookmark sites will send you huge amounts traffic and almost instantly. This doesn’t mean the traffic will equate to conversions, but it should generate momentum in the right direction.
