Facebook is your friend for business- social media web 2.0
Well I can’t resist, As I am a recent convert to social media for business purposes I might as well share my experiences with you all. Yes I have used facebook and have known about social media and the hundreds of sites that can do wanders for you, if you havn’t seen this ‘directory’ of web2.0 sites then check it out and choose and you will see what I mean! goweb2.0
There are hundreds to choose from and you can really build a great following and corner some of the newer sites. However facebook is holding true as a real gold standard for networking, because really no one needs any introduction to facebook it’s a no brainer when people log on and start adding people as friends. Might be a different story finding people to connect to in the newer web2.0 sites.
All I do is simply look for mutual friends that have friends that may be interested in my profile and add them as a friend, a simple comment addressing their first name such as ‘ Hi tony I saw that you are mutual friends with mike, I would like to add you to my network’ 9 times out of 10 they will be happy to be added to your network. So if you are positioning your profile and contacts within a business or marketing concept around your vocation you should have similar or like minded friends in your network they may be prospects or affiliates or just contemporaries that can help you in any way you can think of. It’s also so easy to see what everyone is upto just by posting a message on your wall or updating your status. You will find people just add comments and this brings about rapport so easily!
I have added 200 fantastic friends and contacts in just 3 weeks!
I suggest you go create an account now or set up a new one for your business name and really start positioning yourself to be able to take action when you have an offer or an opportunity! You just need to send out one post and you can touch thousands of people!
I’m here to tell you that it works and I am getting great contacts on a daily basis. It will only take you about 30 mins a day to search for some good friends or act on the suggestions facebook gives you.
p.s you can also integrate your twitter account with your facebook page!
By the way there are many facebook applications that you can use to help you. check out the directory here:
http://www.facebook.com/apps/directory.php
Be careful how many you use, as the more you have the slower your page loads and some may be conflicting, remember build your network first then add the fancy stuff!

Thank you for the informative post.
I really appreciate the link to

I am amazed at the scope of Web 2.0.
Your welcome. its overwhelming how many sites there are out there, best pick 2-3 and master them!
Hi,
When you set up a Business account on Facebook it does not allow you to ‘search’ for friends so you can not increase your network.
If you create a Profile you now make your account so you will get a mix of personal and business comments which is not desired.
Please explain how we can keep the Business Facebook account and go and search for fans.
Thx
Hi you should create individual fan pages for each and every business you would like to promote on facebook
